Do You Want to Hire an Apprentice? – Incentives Are now Being Offered
Posted 21/08/2020
If you are thinking about hiring an employee, you may find that hiring an apprentice is a cost-effective solution.
As part of the Government’s plans to Kick start the economy, an incentive payment is being offered.
Employers in England will receive an incentive of £2,000 for each new apprentice aged 16-24 and £1,500 for new apprentices aged above 25 they hire between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021.
Any apprentice aged 16-24 will not require National Insurance contributions to be made via the business – this is an additional saving.
You can view the Governments Apprenticeship Hub for further information https://www.apprenticeships.gov.uk/
To hire an apprentice, you firstly need to register for a digital Apprenticeship Service account https://www.gov.uk/guidance/manage-apprenticeship-funds
The Government has an online portal to help you to find apprenticeship training providers https://findapprenticeshiptraining.apprenticeships.education.gov.uk/
The Government even has a ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ service that may help you to find the right apprentice https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship
Claims can be made by employers in relation to these apprentices from 1 September 2020. Those claims must be made through the Apprenticeship Service. https://accounts.manage-apprenticeships.service.gov.uk/service/index
